Construction work on check dam kicked off in Logar

KABUL: Construction work on a check dam worth 4.4 million Afghani (some 61,434 U.S. dollars) has been kicked off in the country’s central province of Logar, the Ministry of Water and Energy said in a statement the other day. The dam will be constructed in the Abbazak area of Mohammad Agha district of the province within three months, the statement said, adding that hundreds of people would be provided with job opportunities in the project. The Ministry of Water and Energy has so far constructed hundreds of check dams across the country and construction work on dozens of other dams are underway. The Kabul Times
