Construction work on 173 development projects underway countrywide

KABUL: Construction work on 173 development projects is underway and provided more than 15,000 individuals with job op portunities in the country, the Ministry of Public Works said in a statement the other day. Spokesman of the ministry Mohammad Ashraf Haqshunas said construction work on 173 development projects including construction, maintenance and monitoring of roads and highways, goods and non-consulting services is underway and some of the projects are on the verge of completion, according to the statement. The projects include reconstruction work of the Kabul-Kandahar highway, reconstruction of Kandahar-Herat highway, the basic construction work of GhorHerat highway, the reconstruction work of the Kandahar-Uruzgan highway, Salang highway, the reconstruction of the Badghis-Faryab Afghan ring road related to Badghis, the repair of the Kunduz-Takhar-Badakhshan highway and the construction of the second lane of the Kabul-Logar highway, the statement said. Haqshunas added the ministry has also started work on 109 road maintenance and monitoring projects across the country, of which 76 projects have been financed from the development budget and 33 from the regular budget of the ministry, the statement added. Meanwhile, a number of Afghans expressed pleasure over the launching of economic and development projects in the country, they said after the resumption of the Islamic Emirate, Afghanistan has made remarkable progress in many areas. Important development results have been achieved in areas such as health, education, microfinance, irrigation and rural livelihoods, as well as in progressive improvements in public financial management.
