Construction work of retaining wall begins in Maidan Wardak

MAIDAN SHAHR: Construction work on a retaining wall worth 106 million Afghani (some 1,251,538.82 U.S. dollars) has been started in an official ceremony in the country’s central province of Maidan Wardak, the provincial Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Department said in a statement Monday. The ceremony was attended by Maidan Wardak’s Deputy Governor Mawlavi Sayed Ur Rahman Hafiz and a number of local officials, the statement said. Addressing the ceremony, Mawlavi Hafiz said with the successful completion of the wall, thousands of acres of agricultural lands will be saved from flash floods, according to the statement. Also, Director of the provincial Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Department Mawlavi Wahidullah Rashid said that the wall length 3,600 meters, with 90 percent financial cooperation of the Finance Ministry and 10 percent of the communities’ share will be built within 18 months in the province, the statement added.
