Cold storages to be built in Ghazni

GHAZNI: Two large cold storages with the capacity of housing 8,000 metric tons of agricultural products will be built in the country’s central province of Ghazni, the provincial Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Department Mawlavi Mohammad Idres said in a statement Tuesday. He added that hundreds of tons of dried and fresh fruits and vegetables products in Ghazni city and its districts are currently sold in the market at half prices due to the absence of cold storages. “Two businessmen will invest one million U.S. dollars to build two standard cold storages with the capacity to preserving up to 8,000 metric tons of agricultural products in the province,” he added. According to him, the farm ers will place their harvests in the facilities and supply them to the market when needed. Farmers say they are happy to have heard the cold storages will be built to store agricultural products, especially vegetables in the province. The Kabul Times
