Chinese poor-quality products undermining business in Afghanistan

Part II

Not only materials, needed for technical means, like house-building, constructional items and electrics, but also medicines and other health equipment, imported from China and other neighboring countries are poor in quality and not workable. Even, the low-quality medicines, imported from these countries, according to health expert threaten patients’ lives. Citizens also complain about poor-quality and high-price medicines imported from other countries like China and said they buy medicine for nearly 3,000 Afghanis, but it does not work, due to being low-quality. Even patients taking under treatment, with Chinese, Iranian and Pakistani medication, do not recover, as they do not have effectiveness for being poor quality. However, the drug-stores said they sell quality medicines and no better medicine, they said had been found around there, while it is difficult for doctors and pharmacists to identify whether it is good or poor in quality. This is while, Afghanistan spends more than 400 million U.S. dollars every year to import medicine from regional countries including Iran, Pakistan, India and China and the medicine importing companies said that around 400 companies are importing medicine into the country. Afghan citizens ask the related organs of the Islamic Emirate for activating one laboratories to test the medicine’s quality, as only one or two laboratories available in Kabul are not enough. Due to the lack of health services in Afghanistan, tens of thousands of Afghans are leaving abroad for medical treatment, mostly to India and Pakistan. Concluded Mohammad Noor Khahani
