Chinese companies to invest in Afghanistan mines extraction

KABUL: A number of Chinese investors in a meeting with the Minister of Mines and Petroleum of the Islamic Emirate Mawlavi Shahabuddin Delawar, have shown interest to invest in the country’s mines, particularly in oil and gas, the ministry said in a statement Sunday. Pointing to the investment opportunities in Afghanistan, representatives of the Chinese companies said that after the resumption of power by the IEA, the ground has been paved for investment than ever before and we are ready to invest in various sectors in the country, according to the statement. In the meeting, Minister of Mines and Petroleum Shahabuddin Delawar, while, welcoming the foreign companies, particularly Chinese investors in investing in the country’s mines said: “Afghanistan has vast natural resources and some parts of the mines will be announced for mining extraction process.” Any foreign investors who are interested in investing in the country’s mines can participate in the tendering process, the statement added. After the end of the occupation and the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan, the ground has been paved for foreign investment and dozens of small and large foreign companies have shown interest in investing around 10 billion U.S. dollars in various sectors in the country so far.
