KABUL: British Chargé d’affaires for Afghanistan, Hugo Shorter met IEA Foreign Minister Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi in Doha, the ministry said in a statement the other day.
British delegation expressed sympathy and condolences over the casualties of the recent earthquake, announcing £3.5 million in emergency aid and that further humanitarian aid would be announced soon, said the statement.
The meeting also focused on the overall situation of Afghanistan, economic assistance, education & other political issues.
British chargé d’affaires said the UK does not support political objectives through violence, adding that they would take pragmatic approach towards bilateral relations step-by-step.
The country’s acting Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi thanked Britain for its humanitarian aid, stressing the need to focus on infrastructural projects for the well-being and development of the Afghan people, the statement quoted.
He also welcomed Britain’s recent position for not supporting any armed opposition in Afghanistan.
Both sides, also emphasized on broadening bilateral relations and positive interaction between the two countries.
