BPC to increase capacity of gasfired power generation in north

KABUL: Representative of the private Bayat Power Company has said that it would increase the capacity of gas-fired power generation it the country’s northern provinces, Bakhtar News Agency said the other day. In a meeting with the officials of the Administrative Office for President, expressed readiness to increase the capacity of gas-fired power generation in the northern provinces of the country, the agency said. In the meeting, Eng. Ahmad Zia Khalid, head of the Investment Facilitation Department at the Administrative Office of the President, expressed support for the company’s plan and highlighted the opportunities for investors in the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, the statement said. Currently operating in Jawzjan, Sar-e Pul, and Faryab provinces, Bayat Power Company is set to add approximately 100 megawatts to its production capacity in the second phase of thermal power generation from natural gas, the statement further said. The company aims to further expand its power generation capacity to 200 megawatts in the third phase. The Kabul Times
