“Balkh has changed to trade door of Central Asia & China,” President Ghani

MAZAR-E-SHARIF: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on second day of his visit to Mazar-e-Sharif met with traders and industrialists of Balkh.
In the meeting, representatives of traders and industrialists while supporting government’s policy for convincing and supporting the investment in the country enumerated their problems in various fields as lack of permanent exhibitions, distribution of lands in industrial parks, creating industrial parks for carpet-weavers, installation of cargo scanners in airport, creating industrial bank, lack of markets for handicrafts and extension of trade license.
Praising traders and industrialists for their hard works, the country’s President said: “Balkh has changed to trade door of Central Asia and China and the traders and industrialists should change trade vision of Balkh.”
He added that balance between imports and experts was too high and the situation should be changed.
Stressing on standardizing of processing the domestic products, President Ghani considered that role of producers was significant in economic development of the country, saying that six items of the country’s agricultural products could increase exports to $4 billion in coming three years.
The country’s President asked Balkh traders and industrialists to make a clear plan regarding investment in Mazar-e-Sharif city so that the government could take a step in this regard.
President Ghani instructed Blakh governor to urgently address problem of Rabia Balkhi market in order that women industrialists could sell their products there.
The country’s President also instructed head of administrative affairs that cargo scanners should be installed in Mawlana Jalaluddin Balkhi airport to address problem of traders.
According to another report, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with district governors of Balkh province.
In the meeting, the country’s president praised district governors of the province for their efforts toward improvement of local governance, saying that district governors seminar would be soon held in Kabul where local governance problems would be discussed.
