Baghlan road crash: 2 dead, scores injured

PUL-I-KHUMRI: At least two commuters were killed and 12 others injured in separate traffic incidents in the country’s northern Baghlan province, the provincial police spokesman said in a statement the other day. The first incident happened in an area between Baghlan-e-Markazi district and Pul-e-Khumri, the provincial capital city, after two head-on corolla care collided with each other leaving a woman dead and five people wounded, said Mawlavi Shir Ahmad Burhani, the provincial police spokesman. The second incident took place at the outskirt of Salang pass, when a Saracha-type van skidded of the road and fell into a ditch, resulting in the death of one child and injury of seven others, the spokesman added. Reckless driving and poorly constructed roads along the mountainous are often blamed for deadly road accidents in Afghanistan. The Kabul Times
