Badri, Chinese company chief discuss banking issues

KABUL: The Governor of Da Afghanistan Bank Hidayatullah Badri, in a meeting, with officials of the Chinese Metallurgical Group Corporation (MCC) dis cussed facilitating the banking sector in Afghanistan, DAB said in a statement the other day. Two sides conferred on ways of facilitating and solving problems in financial and banking sectors between Afghanistan and China, the statement said. Speaking in the meeting, Badri said Afghanistan’s central bank was committed to playing an effective role in the implementation of development projects and providing banking services, according to the statement. Calling the Mes e Ainak mine one of the largest projects in the country, Badri added with the implementation of the project banking problems would be resolved. MCC won the contract in 2008 and is expected to invest around three billion dollars in developing the copper mine, possibly the second largest in the world. China Metallurgical Group Corporation (MCC, Chinese is a Chinese state-owned enterprise headquartered in Beijing, engaged in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction), natural resources exploitation, papermaking, equipment manufacturing, and real estate development. MCC is one of the largest equipment manufacturers in China, and the only state-owned enterprise that is authorized to run pulp-making and papermaking businesses in China and Internationally.
