Another Qatari aid for quakeaffected families arrives in Herat

KABUL: The government of Qatar has sent another package of humanitarian assistance to earthquake-affected families in the country’s western Herat province, the Afghanistan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) said in a statement the other day. “The aid package includes 1,000 healthcare items, 1,643 cartons of food, 3,450 blankets, 20 tons of dates and 250 tents, has arrived at the Khawaja Abdullah Ansari Airport and handed over to the Afghanistan Red Crescent Society,” the statement said, adding the humanitarian assistance would be transparently distributed to the affected families in the presence of a commission. Last week, the Qatari embassy in Kabul said three chartered planes carrying the aid had landed in the province. The first flight delivered 24 tons of humanitarian assistance, containing 6,000 blankets and 1,000 food packages. Each food package contains 24 kilograms of different edible items. According to the source, the last batch of such aid would reach Herat this week. The Kabul Times
