KABUL: In Coordination and Administration Center of the Ministry for Defense, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani held a video conference with leading delegation of security and defensive sectors, heads of security and defensive entities and all heads and units’ commanders of zones and provinces, the Presidential Palace said in a statement on Sunday.
Attended by Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, at the outset, Defense Minister Tariq Shah Bahrami spoke about security management of parliamentary elections, according to the statement.
‘Over the last four months, Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSFA) have made much effort to prepare the ground for holding elections,’ he further said.
Recently, the enemy attacked a number of provinces including Farah, Faryab, Uruzgan and Ghazni provinces that have been firmly responded by ANDSF, he added.
Reforms and transparency would apply in defensive and security sectors and we would win this war, he stated.
Afterwards, thanking good management of the country’s ANDSF during the elections, CE Abdullah said the security sector leadership and all officials paid attention to soldiers’ livelihood, martyrs’ families and those injured. He added a sound management can help prevent civilian and military casualties. Extending condolences on recent terrorist attack took place in Khost province, the president said this incident was shocking and should be thoroughly investigated.
He clarified that those who have promoted suicide culture are responsible for this crime, adding the suicide centers are operational in neighboring countries and by releasing an statement, the Taliban cannot escape this responsibility.
‘If the Taliban really want to come up like an Afghan, they should join peace process,’ the president said.
Lauding the ANDSF eminent role over the last years, President Ghani said the epic created by you should be shared with people.
Winter is a season of forces’ enforcement, commandos should return to their main job and impose heavy blows on enemies, the president continued.
He added that commandos should take offensive position and be like a knocker first against the enemy.
Thanking on a successful operation conducted by MoD chief of army staff in Jaghori and Malistan districts, the president said peace was the people’s demand and a moral responsibility.
He added the government wants a negotiation to be without conditions not a peace without conditions.
‘We want a lasting peace, based on which the national interests to be considered,’ he said.
The president said Taliban were a part of the war and this domestic dimension has paved the way for foreign dimensions.
At the end, MoD’s chief of army staff thanked the president for his attention to ANDSF and said the ANDSF were neutral and far from relations, they belong to the nation and defend the country.
