Afghanistan Women Chamber of Commerce & Industries resumes operation

After seven months, Afghanistan Women Chamber of Commerce and Industries resumed operation to manage women trade works in the country. New officials of the country’s chamber of commerce and industries have assured women entrepreneurs of supporting their work in various fields of industrial, mines, agriculture and livestock.
According to acting Afghanistan Women Chamber of Commerce and Industries Roya Hafizi, it has been needed to resume operation although there was only online operation. “Fortunately, with continued effort we have been able to re-open the women chamber of commerce and industries and from now on, we can work on trade and economic affairs, hold exhibitions and open permanent markets in the country,” Mrs. Hafizi said. This comes after a number of the country’s women entrepreneurs have left the country, while some are still interested in working in this field and has always asked the Islamic Emirate for reopening of the country’s women chamber of commerce and industries.
Zulfia, an Afghan woman entrepreneur, in an interview with The Kabul Times correspondent while expressing happiness about reopening of the women chamber of commerce and industries said Afghan women entrepreneur were so happy about the resumption of the chamber’s activities.
“From now on, Afghan women entrepreneurs can go for their economic works and businesses in the country. Besides, via the chamber they can keep contact with the world’s women entrepreneurs,” Zulfia said, hoping that all problems will be gradually addressed.
She further said that there were women entrepreneurs that could continue their work in close contact with the chamber and export their products to foreign countries.
In a statement released on the occasion of reopening of the country’s women chamber of commerce and industries said the chamber has always made effort to cooperate with the country’s women entrepreneurs to actively do their job online after the IEA takeover in mid-August.
Acting Afghanistan women chamber of commerce and industries considered reopening of the chamber as legal.
“Those who are absent cannot manager or run the women chamber of commerce and industries anymore,” Hafizi said, adding that she will legally run the chamber as she’s in Afghanistan and needs to manage the chamber.
Meanwhile, officials at the country’s chamber of commerce and industries in a resolution has said that the chamber is a national organization which cannot be the personal or permanent property of specific figures.
After the Islamic Emirate (IEA) takeover in mid-August, the country’s women chamber of commerce and industries ceased operation, but its affairs have been followed and managed online since. With continued effort of the chamber’s officials and attention of the Islamic Emirate, the chamber has finally resumed its operation and held its first meeting this week. According to acting minister of commerce and industries Qudratullah Jamal, Afghan women can play vital role in economic development of the country and the ministry of commerce and industries will fully support the Afghan women entrepreneurs.
This comes as a number of Afghan women entrepreneurs have left the country or ceased their trade activities in the country. Amiri
