Afghanistan revived as SCO’s contact group

KABUL: The Council of Foreign Ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) has agreed on reviving its Afghanistan group, a Russian state-controlled TASS News Agency reported Saturday. Held in India’s picturesque city of Goa, the SCO-Afghanistan contact group has been revitalized, according to the media quoting Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov as saying after the meeting. “Today, we agreed to revitalize the SCO-Afghanistan contact group,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said as quoted by the state-controlled media. The contact group had not met for quite a long time, Lavrov said. Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said in his address to the summit that [Afghanistan] after being the playground for great powers, time and again, we owe it to the people of Afghanistan not to repeat the mistakes of the past.
