Afghanistan rapidly moving towards economic, political stability, Haqqani

KABUL: The Acting Minister of Interior Affairs Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani, in a meeting, with Raffaella Iodice, Head of EU delegation in Afghanistan, said after decades of instability the country is rapidly moving towards economic and political stability. Praising the security improvement in Afghanistan, Raffaella Iodice talked about the meeting due to be held in Doha, Qatar next month about Afghanistan’s situation, the interior ministry said in a statement Wednesday. On behalf of the European Union, Raffaella Iodice assured the provision and continuation of humanitarian assistance to the earthquake-affected people in Herat province and Afghan refugees returning to the country, the statement added. Welcoming Raffaella Iodice, Khalifa Haqqani said that after several decades of instability and chaos, Afghanistan is rapidly moving towards economic and political stability, as well as Afghans are living in physical and psychological security and in a peaceful environment, according to the statement. Regarding the Islamic Emirate’s engagement, Haqqani said: “The Afghan government to better manage the returnees and provide them with temporary accommodation and essential services, according to the statement. Mawlavi Hanafi said that the officials of the Islamic Emirate and the appointed committees of the high commission for addressing the returnees’ challenges didn’t allow the returnees to face any problems, but provided them with necessary facilities and services, the statement added. Hanafi added that all the committees, especially the temporary accommodation committee, should do their best to better address the affairs of the returning migrants so that they do not face problems in the cold season. The Kabul Times should gain its membership in important international organizations so that the Afghans will have their real representatives there which will also help the issues to be solved easily.” Javed Husain
