Acting Minister of Defense of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) Mawlavi Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid in an official visit to Qatar met with the country’s high-ranking officials. The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) and ministry of defense have called the visit as full of achievement.
Acting minister of defense has said that during his recent visit to Qatar, bilateral cooperation in the field of security and defense has been discussed with Qatari officials.
After returning from Qatar, acting minister of defense in an interview with the National Television of Afghanistan (RTA) said that bilateral relations between the two countries, security and defense cooperation and other relevant issues have been discussed with Qatari officials.
In connection with security and defense cooperation with Qatar, acting Minister of Defense, Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid has said that Kabul and Doha are expected to sign an agreement for security cooperation. He said that the agreement would be assessed by the officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to decide whether or not it would be signed.
He said there would be a security pact, based on which the two countries would cooperate with each other. It is worth mentioning that Qatar is interested in signing such a pact with Afghanistan. If this sign, it will be a good step towards helping Afghanistan reach lasting stability.
The recent official visit of the acting minister of defense to Qatar shows that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has now the capabilities to independently maintain its relations with other countries in the world and region. This visit also shows that Afghanistan has reached stability and is authorized to take decision on maintaining diplomatic relations with foreign countries.
Meanwhile, in its recent statement, Afghanistan ministry of defense has said that soon after acting minister of defense Mawlavi Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid arrived in Doha, he met with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who was accompanied by Qatari Minister of Defense Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Attiyah. The statement added that Mawlavi Yaqoub also met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Musnad, National Security Adviser to the Emir of Qatar, Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, and Qatari Chief of Army Staff Al-Fariq Al-Rakn (Lieutenant General) Salem Hamad Al-Nabat.
The statement further highlighted that the delegation led by Mawlavi Yaqoob “visited the Joint Military Operations Center in Qatar and met with the Commander of the Joint Military Operations Center.” The two sides discussed bilateral cooperation in the development of defense and security ties, said the statement.
