Afghanistan now safer place for tourism

With the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate, overall security situation has improved across Afghanistan. It is the first time for Afghanistan to experience peace and security almost after four decades of wars that destroyed the country and suffered millions of Afghans. Today, the situation is extremely hopeful as thousands of domestic and foreign tourists have visited Afghanistan’s historic, natural and cultural sites in the past two years. Afghanistan is now a good place for tourism and it is time that foreign and domestic investment on tourism industry should be absorbed. As overall security situation is completely satisfactory across the country, it is a golden opportunity for foreign and domestic investors to invest on tourism industry in the country. The Islamic Emirate is also making effort to provide all necessary ground for foreign and domestic investment on this industry. For the first time, foreigners say that Afghanistan is now a safer place for tourism. A British travel firm says Afghanistan is a top holiday destination for 2024. “It’s completely blown me away,” said Dylan Harris, founder of Lupine Travel. “It’s the last place I expected to sell so well.” Harris told The Independent: “Unbelievably this year, Afghanistan is our most popular destination.” The Wigan-based extreme travel firm previously operated to Afghanistan, but dropped the country when the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan took over in 2021. “We expected it to be up to a decade or more before it would be safe enough to travel there,” Harris said. “But it turned out in the end that it’s actually safer to travel there now than it was before, because the people who we were trying to avoid before are the people in charge”. “One of my staff members went over in September to do the initial research trip. That went well. Last month we put three trips on sale for next year. They sold out immediately.” Pajhwok tried to contact the Ministry of Information and Culture about foreign tourists and areas they visited the most, but failed. Earlier, Hayatullah Mohajer Farahi, Deputy Minister of Information and Culture, said that after the return of the Islamic Emirate more than 4,200 foreign tourists had visited different parts of the country. It is worth mentioning that tourism is considered as a pillar of a country’s economies. It plays a central role in a society and individual lives. It offers great opportunities for emerging economies and developing countries. It creates jobs, strengthens the local economy, contributes to local infrastructure development and can help to conserve the natural environment and cultural assets and traditions, and to reduce poverty and inequality.
