Afghanistan mourns after dozens martyred in Kabul, Logar bombings

By: The Kabul Times

KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani declared today (Tuesday) a national day of mourning for the victims of the Kabul and Logar bombings, which martyred scores of students. The president, according to a presidential palace statement, also said a funeral will be held for the martyrs around the country.
The president said that he has directed the first vice president to provide money to the victims’ families, adding that as the father of two children he shares the pain with every family that was affected in the deadly incident. The president said the attack on innocent people, especially students, was a crime against humanity, and the perpetrators will be hated by Afghans. President Ghani said that he has directed his second vice president to work on a security plan in consultation with the residents in the west of Kabul and report back to him within two weeks. He said that he has directed the Ministry of Public Health to provide support to those wounded in the attack. President Ghani said that “ignorant” groups— sometimes under the Taliban name and sometimes under the Daesh name—show with such cruel attacks they want to prevent the education of Afghan children and weaken the people’s trust in a brotherly future.
President Ghani said he has directed the national development company to reconstruct the Sayed -ul-Shuhada girls school to allow “our children to go back to school.” “The Taliban should realize that they will not achieve their evil goals through war and if they do not quit killing the people they will be further hated by the people and will be heavily suppressed by the Afghan forces,” he concluded.
