Afghanistan Food and Drug Authority has informed of collecting 33 million afghani revenue in past one year. According to officials of the Food and Drug Authority, the department has been able to collect millions of afghani in revenue in the past one year, saying that the incomes are increasing by passing each single day.
“The Food and Drug Authority has been able to register 1156 forms of the country’s traders. Based on these forms, 10976 items of medicines and 1338 health products have been imported to Afghanistan,” said Javed Hazhir, a spokesperson of the Food and Drug Authority.
He said that the price of items has reached to nearly $600.5 million, adding that around 37 companies have been registered in the past one year.
According to the FDA spokesperson, the country’s Food and Drug Authority is responsible to issue licenses to drugstores, manage the country’s food and drug producing affairs, register companies importing drugs, control and assess the imported food and drugs and prevent from importing poisonous, harmful and illegal food and drugs to the country. Hazhir said that the country’s Food and Drug authority monitored and audited 470 major drug stores in Kabul, closed 106 pharmacies operating illegally and did not have a license, adding nearly 300 tons of energy drinks have been destroyed due to date expiration and poor quality and 18 tons of colored leaves under the title of green tea were confiscated in the past one year.
The FDA spokesperson has said that the authority has been also able to prevent from trafficking of drugs, saying that the authority was continually working with owners of companies to import high-quality food and drugs to the country.
He further said that the country’s Food and Drug Authority was strongly supporting domestic products and has held dozens of meetings with the country’s businessmen in this regard.
In terms of registration and issuing license, the Food and Drug Authority granted and issued licenses to 273 wholesale stores, 51 companies and 4 new factories in the past one year. Besides, the authority has provided job opportunities to 1309 pharmacists in the country.
