Afghanistan Fencing Federation has said that the federation has had good achievements since it has been established in the country. Ahmad Tariq Roshangar, head of the Afghanistan Fencing Federation, in an interview with The Kabul Times correspondent has said that the federation has witnessed a series of considerable achievements in the past few years.
“Afghanistan Fencing Federation has participated in a number of fencing competitions held in regional and international levels. “In 2009, I participated in the first fencing training course held by World Fencing Federation in Kazakhstan. With the completion of the course, I became the first trainer of the Afghanistan Fencing Federation,” Roshangar said,
Roshangar further said that in 2010, Yaqeen Haqiqat participated in another fencing training course held by World Fencing Federation, adding that Haqiqat has been then registered as the second fencing trainer with Afghanistan Fencing Federation.
It is worth mentioning that fencing is a combat sport that features sword fighting.
The three disciplines of modern fencing are the foil, the épée, and the sabre (also saber); each discipline uses a different kind of blade, which shares the same name, and employs its own rules. Most competitive fencers specialize in one discipline.
The modern sport gained prominence near the end of the 19th century and is based on the traditional skill set of swordsmanship.
