Afghanistan enjoys firm security, Japanese ambassador

KABUL: Japanese ambassador to Kabul, Takashi Okada, in a meeting with the country’s acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi said that Afghanistan has now been securer than ever before, the ministry said in a statement.
“The security situation in Afghanistan is now better than it was before,” said the ambassador.
Also, he praised transparency in collecting the country’s revenues and said that the approval of the new fiscal year’s budget from national revenues showed Afghanistan’s economic progress, the statement quoted.
Referring to humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, the ambassador said the flow of the aids highlights that the world wants to engage with the new Afghan government, according to the statement.
“In addition to assistance in agriculture, education, and other sectors, consultations were underway to take necessary steps for the economic growth of Afghanistan,” the statement quoted him as saying.
“Japan does not link humanitarian, development and other cooperation with Afghans to politics,” said the source.
Meanwhile, the country’s acting Foreign Minister Mawlavi Amir Muttaqi thanked Japan for its assistance to Afghanistan and hoped for more development assistance in completing big projects, the plans of which have been drawn up by the late Dr. Nakamura who delivered unforgettable services to the Afghan people.
Minister Muttaqi said the IEA has launched narcotics eradication campaign and treatment of drug addicts so, the world, including Japan, should provide medical, food and other assistance for the Afghan people and to help the Afghan society became a safer place in the world, according to the statement.
