Afghan Products Expo; Azizi discusses regional projects with Uzbek PM, in Tashkent

KABUL: The country’s Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce Nooruddin Azizi, met with Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov in Tashkent, where he inaugurated Afghanistan’s Domestic Products Expo, the ministry said in a statement Wednesday. In the meeting, the two sides discussed large bilateral projects between Kabul and Tashkent, as well as regional projects, said the statement. According to the statement, the two sides, also, discussed increasing trade volume between Kabul and Tashkent, creating more transit facilities through railways and roads, attracting Uzbek investment in various sectors including Afghan mines, and establishing working committees in specific areas. The Uzbek Prime Minister said that his country was ready to invest in the Surkhan DaryaPul-e-Khumri and Kabul power projects, as well as the HairatanHerat and Spin Boldak railway projects. According to the statement, Abdulla Aripov, the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, was expected to soon visit Afghanistan to pursue the projects and contracts. The three-day exhibition was participated by 75 companies, showcasing the country’s domestic products in 140 stalls including Afghan carpets, handicrafts, precious stones, dried fruit, agricultural products, industrial products, non-alcoholic beverages, iron smelting industries, construction paints, minerals, printing industry, saffron, banking services and transportation. Leading a delegation the Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce Nooruddin Azizi, left for Tashkent the capital of Uzbekistan on Tuesday to participate in the inauguration of the Afghan domestic products exhibition.
