Afghan Film produces 2 first ever documentaries since political change

KABUL: Afghanistan state-run film producing company, the Afghan Film has screened two documentaries, after the Islamic Emirate’s takeover of Afghanistan, last year, Bakhtar News Agency reported Monday.

The screened films titled “Salang and Company Bridge” were made over the last seven months and show the reconstruction and repair of Salang Pass and Company Bridge [a bridge in western Kabul, the Afghan capital], the state-controlled agency said.

Mawlavi Javid Afghan the Afghan Film director said that the film producing company was working to produce entertainment programs, the agency quoted.

“We are trying to have entertainment programs to draw the attention of foreigners so that they come to visit Afghanistan and to show the people what happened over the last decades in Afghanistan,” the agency quoted Afghan as saying.

Zabihullah Mujahid Deputy Minister of Information and Culture urged filmmakers to produce films based on the demands of the audience and in accordance to the needs of the society.

“Afghan Film’s officials, employees and producers who make films should pay attention and find out: what are the needs of the society? On which topics do films and documentaries need to be produced?’” he said.
