KABUL: Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, met with Norway’s chargé d’affaires in Afghanistan and discussed political and humanitarian cooperation, a statement from the ministry of foreign affairs said the other day.
During the meeting Muttaqi, as quoted by the statement, said that attempting to take Afghanistan under pressure is useless and that the international community has to instead choose the path of good engagement.
According to the statement, Muttaqi asked the international community to not politicize humanitarian issues.
“The world shouldn’t politicize humanitarian issues. The Islamic Emirate has stopped the cultivation and trafficking of drugs with tens of thousands of addicts are now taken into treatment and the world has a responsibility to help in these areas,” said the statement.
The Islamic Emirate foreign minister said that as history has shown, using the pressure option in Afghanistan is not useful, the statement said.
