GARDEZ; At least five members of a family have been killed after in a house building collapse in southern Paktia province, the provincial information and culture director said Sunday.
The incident happened late on Monday night, after a rainfall-soaked house building fell down, killing five members of a family, Khaliqyar Ahmadzay, the provincial director of information and culture told media.
The victims included a baby boy, a woman and three girls, said the official adding water had first influenced into the basement of the house and then caused the building collapse. More than 182 people have been killed and 250 others wounded in the latest torrential rains and flash floods in Afghanistan.
Over 3,100 houses have been partially or completely destroyed and tens of acres of lands have been swept away in the flooding. The Kabul Times
