5.7 million Afghans provided with cash assistance in current year: WFP

KABUL: More than 5.7 million people have been provided with cash assistance in Afghanistan in the current year, the World Food Program (WFP) twitted the other day. “The assistance was provided with generous support from UNICEF and the governments of France and Japan during the past seven months to give recipients control over what they buy, reduce the need for food assistance and to strengthen the local economy,” the tweet said. Recently OCHA said the number of people who needed food in Afghanistan had reached 29.2 million. The Kabul Times
