40 more Afghans released from Pakistan jails

KABUL: A total of forty Afghans, including five families, have been released from a prison in Pakistan’s Sindh province, a statement from the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said Tuesday.
The people were released from prison following the efforts of the Afghan Embassy and the Afghan Refugees Attaché in Islamabad, under an order from the Karachi Court of Appeal, the statement said.
The Migrants Affairs of the Afghan Embassy in Islamabad said that the released prisoners will be transferred to Spin Boldak by transportation and handed over to the border command of the Directorate of Migrants Affairs in Kandahar.
“The issue of the remaining 160 more Afghans kept in Landi and Peche prisons in Pakistan is under administrative procedures and they would be released in two to three days,” according to the statement.
It should be noted that with the efforts of the Afghan Embassy and the Afghan Refugees Attaché in Islamabad, within the last one and a half months, hundreds of Afghans imprisoned in Pakistan have been freed and returned home and the efforts to free the rest of the Afghans imprisoned in that country are continuing.
