MAIDAN SHAR: Afghan security forces have arrested at least four people for terrorist activities in the country’s eastern Wardak province, a local security official said Wednesday.
“Based on a tip off, security forces conducted a search operation, arresting four individuals for being involved in terrorist activities in Maidan Shar, the provincial capital of Wardak province, late on Tuesday,” Qari Abdul Saboor Hammad, a senior provincial counter-terrorism official told media.
According to him, six AK-47 rifles, one PK machinegun, one rocket launcher and an amount of ammunition have also been confiscated from them during the operation.
No one has so far commented on the incident.
In order to tighten security, the Islamic Emirate forces has vowed to drive forces behind any illegal armed groups countrywide.
Recently three armed oppositions were killed and another wounded in an ambush by security forces, in the country’s northern Badakhshan province.
