27,000 Afghan refugees returned home from Pakistan in a day

KABUL: A total of 27,000 Afghan immigrants have returned from Pakistan via Spin boldak port to the country in the past one day, the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said in a statement Sunday. “The immigrants who had forcibly been deported by the Pakistani government, have been registered with the ministry and the provincial office of the International Organization for Migration (IOM),” the statement said. Also, 2,400 returnees have been provided with 10,000 cash assistance by the Islamic Emirate and shifted to Nimroz, Herat, Kabul, Zabul, Nangarhar and Kandahar provinces, the statement quoted. Furthermore, over 8,000 returnees have been accommodated and provided with food in the temporary camp at Spinboldak crossing port. The maternity ward with the necessary equipment and female health personnel has been established in the camp and is assisting the deliveries, as 12 babies have so far been born there.
