2,000 beggars receive food, cash assistance in Kabul

KABUL: As many as 2,000 beggars have been provided with food and cash assistance by the Beggars’ Collection Committee, a statement from the office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs said Sunday.  Chaired by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Beradar,  a meeting was held to distribute the assistance the other day, in which the Deputy Prime Minister called the collection of beggars an important issue for the Islamic Emirate, the statement quoted. “Collecting beggars and solving their problems are very important for the Islamic Emirate,”  he was quoted by the statement as saying. The Deputy Prime Minister also called on Afghan traders to help beggars, particularly during the holy fasting days. The committee will continue its work and the deserving beggars will be provided with necessary assistance, the statement further said. The Kabul Times
