19 million people receive aids in Afghanistan in past seven months

According to the UNHCR, millions of Afghan people have been affected by the ongoing crisis including displacement and drought.

World Food Program (WFP) has said that it has provided relief aid to over 19 million people in Afghanistan since the start of the current year.
According to WFP, millions of Afghan have received food aid and other essentials in the past seven months in the country. It has said that nine out of ten people are facing with lack of food in the country. According to the WFP, each family receives 100kg flour, 5.12kg bean, 2.9kg rice and 1kg salt for six months.
A number of Afghans in their interviews with The Kabul Times correspondent by praising the WFP for its relief aid said the organization should find employment for Afghans besides providing them with relief food aid.
“It’s right the UN’s welfare organizations provide miserable and needy people with relief aid, but the aid is not permanent.
We’re praising the organization for it’s relief aid. It will be good if the organization provide employment for them,” said Mohammad Zaman, an Afghan citizen.
Shah Wali, another Afghan, says they do not only need food, but also need shelter and drinking water as well as education for their children.
He somehow criticized distribution of the relief aid, saying that in some areas the relief aid and food were not distributed to people in a proper way and sometimes the aid was postponed for days.
World Food Program has said that the relief aid has been distributed to needy and miserable families in Baghlan, Urzgan, Nangarhar, Nuristan, Faryab, Khost, Badakhshan, Badghis, Bamyan, Kabul and all provinces of the country.
A number of Afghan experts have said that emergency relief aid is needed and should be distributed with full transparency.
They say there’s still problem in modality of distribution of relief aid to the people as most people are complaining and saying that they have not received aid so far. They are asking for transparency in distribution of the relief aid in the country.
This year, the (UN) has requested $5 billion in help for Afghan people both inside Afghanistan and in neighboring nations.
Meanwhile, the United Nation High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) claims to have assisted 5 million Afghans this year, particularly vulnerable women who are household heads.
According to UNHCR, the families have received food and other essential necessities this year.
According to the UNHCR, millions of Afghan people have been affected by the ongoing crisis, displacement, drought, and economic disaster.
The organization has also said that besides providing needy people with cash assistance, it has distributed households, solar system and health and first aid to 263,000 people in the country.
