1,000 schools should be promoted professionally, President Ghani

KABUL: During his visit to Zaranj, provincial capital of Nimroz, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met the other day with university lecturers, school teachers, sportsmen and health workers of the province.
In the meeting, Abdul Hadi Baidar and Zahra Sultani, representing others, enumerated their demands and suggestions in connection with teachers town, increasing of teachers’ salaries, lack of school buildings, lack of professional teachers, approval of some faculties, establishment of library and laboratory for university, distribution of residential lands, attention to sportsmen, dispatching expert doctors and ambulances, increasing health centers and reviewing the work on Nimroz provincial hospital.
After hearing their demands and suggestions, the country’s President said that deputy ministers of public health would soon pay a visit to Zaranj to review and take urgent steps in order to address the problems, adding that funds have been provided for construction of schools and all provinces’ needs in connection with construction of schools would be addressed in coming years. Stressing on importance of professional schools, the country’s President said that 1,000 schools would be promoted to professional schools. He instructed governor of Nimroz consider proper lands in cooperation with ministry of urban development and land authority to address problems of residential houses for sportsmen and teachers town.
President Ghani also said that the education budget would be directly provided to provinces and provincial directorates of education from now on.
